July Birthdays

So here it is the 8th of July, and I still don't have the July birthday post up.  But in my defense the first week of July is very busy in this household not only due to the American holiday but I have two birthdays of very close family members in that week.  Since these two lovely ladies are both still living, they will not be listed on this post for obvious reasons.

Not only is this a crazy week in the house I've also been trying to paint my house for about a month now.  Between all the rain and tropical storm Elsa who is still messing with us, I have not been able to get it finished.  I'm not making excuses I'm just telling the truth.  So, without further delay here are the birthdays for the month of July and it is a rather short list this month.  We will start, as always, with wifey's family.

Wifey’s only ancestor that was born in July is Cornelia Boone Overstreet her 2nd great grandmother and she would have been 172 years old, born in 1849 on the 3rd of July.

I actually have two ancestors born on the 4th of July which of course is the American Independence Day plus I have one of those special birthdays this month that I'm not listing on the 4th of July - my firecracker baby.  First up would be my 6th great grandmother who would have been 324 years old on the 4th, Rymerig Quick or Kwik.   Born in 1697 she died before the American Revolution on the 15th of July 1768, so she never experienced the parties and parades and all of the wonderful things that go along with this American holiday.

The second ancestor that I have is my second great grandfather Jacob Taylor he would have been 214 years old this year.  He was born in 1807 and died 22 July 1882.

The next one up would be a 9th great grandmother not proven yet, but Barbara Andriessen and we would be celebrating the 391st anniversary of her birth on the 6th.  Interestingly, she was born 6 July 1630 and she died on the 6th of July 1714 on her 84th birthday.  But she is not the oldest one in this list that would fall to another ninth great grandmother Maria Boel who born on the 15th of July 1622 in Germany, and she would have been an amazing 399 years old.

Let's back up just a couple of days to the 9th of July, in 1710 specifically.  Here we have a 6th great grandfather William H. Hancock he would have been 311.

Now we have the closest of my direct ancestors in the July list Jerome Bodle my great grandfather he was born on the 16th of July 1857 and would have been 164 years old.  His daughter Josephine Melinda Bodle (Josie to her friends, Nanny to me and my siblings) was a constant fixture in my house growing up.

Picture of Jerome Bodle, and possibly his wife.
One of the few pictures Nanny labeled.  This is her dad, Jerome and I think/hope his wife Elizabeth Eve Chapman.

Says Jerome on the back.
From Nanny's collection.  This one is noted on the back as "dad".  I can only assume it's Jerome.

One last unproven direct ancestor would be a 6th great grandmother Jenneke van Keuren born on the 19th of July in 1704 making this the 317th year anniversary of her birth.  And we closeout the list with a fourth great grandmother Elizabeth Robinson born on the 23rd of July 1768 and a beautiful 253 years young.

I wish I had more pictures of my ancestors and cousins.  But alas, it is not so.  Maybe one day I'll stumble across a treasure trove of pictures, family bibles, and even more things.  One can hope.

Peace,
B
